on the beach in Mexico! La Catalina Spanish School offers summer
Spanish immersion for teens as an independent travel option. They
also offer Spanish classes for children traveling with their
families.
Spanish Language Immersion School for teens at La Catalina School at La
Manzanilla Beach, Mexico, just 45 minutes north of the Manzanillo
international airport and three hours south of Puerto Vallarta on
the Pacific Coast on the Mexican Riviera. Summer
Spanish immersion language camp for teenagers with Mexican
homestays, Spanish language classes, and activities.
Supervision
level: Moderate-High: Teens are allowed to walk to and from school,
in this small village of 1,200 inhabitants, and also have a couple of hours
of time in the afternoon on their own if they wish. they have a tight
10pm curfew. The La Catalina Spanish School has been in operation for several
years.

We
also have some Spanish immersion school camps for teenagers in Spain and
other countries that are stand-alone independent travel programs. These include
summer Spanish programs at Trinity School in Spain and Quorum Spanish School
in Spain. These are both coastal beach Spanish schools with a range
of cultural and fun activities for teens with supervised residential
living.

For most teenagers we believe that family homestays are preferable to residential
stay language immersion schools as students experience more of a cultural
immersion and are around native speakers and less around other teens
for a portion of the day that may be at different levels of Spanish
acquisition. The best immersion learning offers structured learning with
many integrative experiences for practicing spontaneous speech. We also think
that Latin American Spanish trains teens in a format of Spanish that is closer
most Spanish needed in the United States and Canada for later professional
use in medicine and healthcare, social work, teaching and education, and
business.
