Our Spanish Immersion Options for Social Workers
in Cuernavaca, Mexico
Have you ever wished that you could connect better with your clients of Mexican/Latino background?
Do you feel an ethical responsibility to provide social work services in a more culturally competent and culturally sensitive manner?
Social Workers and Social Work Students will benefit from our Spanish immersion intensive courses both in new language acquisition as well as acquiring a deeper understanding of Mexican and Latino culture. Even with a basic understanding of simple Spanish and a deeper appreciation for Mexican and Latino culture, you will be have increased confidence in approaching your clients. These people will appreciate your reaching out to them by learning some of their language. You will be able to understand important cultural values related to religion, family, indigenous healing practices, communication and respect. You will learn about DSM IV culture bound syndromes and many that our not listed in DSM IV. Your approach to working with your students will become more culturally competent.

Our programs are not like the typical classroom experience that you may be thinking of. You will study in groups of no more than 5 students (average is 4) or in private classes. We can combine group and private classes for you if you wish. In a tropical garden setting, you will study with students of different ages and nationalities with the most seasoned teachers that Cuernavaca has to offer. Most of our teachers have between 15 and 25 years of Spanish language immersion instruction experience and are invested in your learning and having a good time while doing so. That is why we call it "Fun and Learning, too!"

For students interested in bringing a group with them of other students, we offer discounts or even free Spanish classes, accommodations, meals, excursions and materials depending upon the size of the group you bring. We will help you with a special webpage to promote your group; flyers for your target group; help in arranging group travel rates through Exito Travel; and help in arranging traveler's medical insurance. We can arrange a volunteer experience in a Mexican hospital, women's clinic or family and children's throughout the year. Think of how this will impact your understanding of your clients.

We are able to begin new classes each Monday, 52 weeks throughout the year. Classes are arranged in weekly modules of learning objectives.

Spanish Immersion Courses

All levels of Spanish instruction begin each Monday throughout the year as levels are packaged in 1 week modules
Your skill level will be determined in a personal interview upon arrival
Each Spanish course is attended by no more than 5 students per group, avg: 4, 3 in off season classes
You may have a different teacher each week in order to receive a variety of teaching styles
You will receive homework on the average of ½ to 1 hour daily
A change of groups is possible, according to your progress
A certificate will be awarded at the end of every study period documenting the activities and hours of your studies which can be used upon authorization of your university or high school for the purpose of obtaining credits. This must be arranged ahead of time with your school

Children 6-11 years old are $125 per week regardless of the number weeks of study during the summer season. The cost is $150 per week for any other time of the year. Contact us regarding childcare by Spanish speaking staff on campus.
Individual classes may be arranged for partial days as well, such as group grammar class in the morning and individual conversation class in the afternoon. Please contact AVENTURAS LANGUAGES for pricing on special request programs. Special private/ group combination classes are available.
Ex: Private class 9-12 and conversation class in group until 2pm: 1-3 weeks @ $304/week.
All course options include our 10 hour/wk evening cultural / learning integration program.
Executive and Executive Plus Programs add 5 or 10 hours a week of private instruction to the program, respectively, for an additional fee.
The individual class rate is $20 per hour for less than the weekly 25 hours rate.

Childcare arrangements can also be arranged for those under 6 either on campus or at en educational C.E.N.D.I. program 1 block from the school.

Payment for the period will be required no later than your first day of classes in order to receive the reduced weekly rate.
If payment is made weekly, the per week cost is US$190.

A $100 per person deposit is due at the time of registration to reserve your place. Children's registration for those under 12 years of age is $50. This will be applied toward payment of the nonrefundable lifetime registration fee charged by the school. On future study periods to the school, this payment will not be necessary. There is no registration fee for daycare registration.

Ask about our refund policy on unused weeks of tuition and accommodations.

EXPERIENCIA is closed on the following national holidays. If a school day coincides with a national holiday, no refunds will be given. Listed weekly price will be charged.

Special Programs
A special program can be offered to those with a specific learning objective, e.g. for business executives, teachers and educators, psychotherapists, social workers, mental health workers, flight attendants, medical staff or technicians (doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, etc. An extra fee may be required.
We can arrange volunteer internship experiences working in a hospital, school classrooms, a family clinic or children's clinic. There is no charge to arrange an internship placement.
We will arrange group studies for your group and offer incentives to those bringing a group with them.
