The Center is located in the heart of Oaxaca's Historical Center, two blocks from the beautiful Santo Domingo ex-convent and 4 blocks from Oaxaca's "Zocalo" (downtown square). Due to the Center's location, students are surrounded by a number of cafes, art galleries, museums, shops and internet cafes.

Soléxico Campus Oaxaca is set in a typical colonial building with a large main patio where students get together during the breaks. This old style construction with thick colonial walls keeps the classrooms cool throughout the year.

The city of Oaxaca, located in the central valley of the state, is surrounded by the states of Puebla, Veracruz and Chiapas and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest. With its ethnic, cultural and historic richness, Oaxaca is an ideal place to experience the beauty of Mexico and its people. Due to Oaxaca's appreciation for ancestral traditions and its colonial architecture, UNESCO has named the city a patrimony of humanity.

Oaxaca is known for its creative, talented artists and many different types of artisans. The artists use everything from clay and fabrics to leather, iron and jewelry, making Oaxaca one of the main producers

Soléxico’s staff of professional Mexican teachers, with more than 15 years of teaching experience, is specially trained to maximize the students´ learning potentials. All of Soléxico’s instructors have taken courses on Spanish as a Second Language, and some have Education, Business Administration and Marketing degrees as well. Each instructor is amply qualified to instruct, but our instructors are also unique in their patience, attentiveness and eagerness to interact with and assist students, all of which creates a comfort level and friendship between student and teacher.

Our Courses

Our approach focuses on the conversational ability of the students though writing, comprehension, pronunciation, grammar and reading are also emphasized. Following are descriptions of the grammatical points covered in each of our seven levels. We will assess your entry level on the first day of classes and you will be placed at the appropriate level.

Intermediate Spanish II. - Future tense, conditional tense, passive voice, comparisons of "por" and "para", familiar and formal commands.

Advanced Spanish I. - Subjunctive mode (present and past).

Advanced Spanish II. – In depth analysis and review of all the grammatical points seen in the previous levels.

Advanced Spanish III. - Analysis of literature, newspapers, journals and other material, Grammatical review.

Lectures and Activities

During the conversation hours, lectures are given in Mexican history, Zapotecan culture, national holidays, etc

Our books and materials were written by our Academic Director and have been improved over the years with the help of our qualified instructors to create the perfect support for our classes. Our Academic team updates the materials frequently and adds new worksheets, visual aids and the latest methodology for teaching Spanish as a Second Language.

A Syllabus is available to anyone who needs one. Please contact our main office in Playa del Carmen with your request, and we will be happy to forward a syllabus via post or email.

Afternoon Workshops

We offer afternoon workshops and activities that include, cooking, arts and crafts, salsa classes, singing Mexican songs, a fiesta or a picnic. Students at Soléxico meet once a week with the staff and faculty for "Café Social". A movie is shown each week during one of the conversation classes, and all students wishing to test and improve their auditory comprehension are welcome to watch it.
