ABOUT
EXPERIENCIA CUERNAVACA
EXPERIENCIA,
Centro de Intercambio Bilingue y Cultural, is a premier Spanish language
and cultural immersion program in Mexico. The home campus of the school is
located in the town of
CUERNAVACA. This
is in central Mexico about an hour and a half south of Mexico City. With
executive bus service from the airport in Mexico City, Cuernavaca is
easily accessible. At an altitude of 4,500 feet in central Mexico, it is
known as “the City of Eternal Spring” for it's year-around mild
temperatures. The Tepoztlán campus is located in the indigenous village
of Tepoztlán and enjoys a similar climate. This means that
during the summer you will be comfortable and not suffer with the
heat and humidity of other locations.
Experiencia was
founded in 1977, by Arturo Ballinas, as one of the first Cuernavaca language
schools, with the goal to offer a first-class Spanish program and an interesting
extracurricular program. Since then this school has provided small
classes of no more than five students or private classes, at all levels of
instruction. TUITION COSTS
for group classes of no more than 5 students are between $160 to $190 dollars
per week depending
upon your length of stay and the campus you choose.
Classes
begin every Monday throughout the year with instruction between 9am and 2pm,
and also includes two hours of Learning Integration Activies in Spanish
M-F from 6-8pm (optional) and Saturday Excursions to ancient pyramids, museums
and recreational sites are included in the price of basic tuition.. *Saturday
excursions require a minimum of 6 interested students and entry fees, if
any, are paid by the student.
The learning
integration activities included in the price of basic tuition are:
Lectures; cultural activities including Mexican and salsa dance
classes; twice weekly language and cultural intercambios with Mexican students
learning English at the school. |
Additional
Sunday excursions each week are available for an additional fee. Reasonable
accommodations can be arranged with a Mexican host family for a complete
immersion experience. The school also has dormitories on campus. They
can also arrange a stay in an apartment or at a local hotel.
Experiencia has
always been strongly committed to the Mexican culture and Mexican traditions.
Lectures on Mexican history, family, culture, politics, art, indigenous healing
practices and contemporary events are an integral part of the program. In
class, you will also integrate important learning regarding Mexican
and Latin culture. If you are looking to provide culturally competent
services in Spanish or English, understanding the culture is a must.
Staying
with a Mexican family is an incredible experience for students. Here many
life-long relationships have been established between
HOMESTAY FAMILIES and students.
Each family is selected carefully and evaluated on an ongoing basis
to insure quality. You will be accepted into their homes as a member of the
family. They will help you with homework as well as conversational applications
of speaking Spanish. You will learn the true meaning of Mexican hospitality
here!
Experiencia has
carefully selected each member of it's teaching staff as well. All of the
teachers receive ongoing training through specialized courses. Qualified
and committed teachers are a vital condition for a successful learning
environment.
In recent
years, many more students have chosen to bring their families with them.
The children's program runs concurrently on the same campus as
the adult program during the day and focuses on learning Spanish
in ways that work for children. Reasonable daycare options are available
for very young children and they are close by for your convenience and
their comfort.
Experiencia
is a small and friendly Spanish language school. Both the students and the
teachers experience the school as their second home characterized by an easy
and relaxed atmosphere yet a serious setting for study and language acquistion.
The classes take place under the palm trees of the school's garden and under
the warm subtropical sun of Cuernavaca and Tepoztlan.

fees through AVENTURAS LANGUAGES
that you would pay registering directly with EXPERIENCIA in
Cuernavaca.
We will help
you arrange a study program based on your specific needs on an individualized
basis and provide you with travel information. We study for three weeks at
the school ourselves each summer. For more than twenty years we have traveled
throughout México on more than a dozen of our own AVENTURAS. We will
also help you with travel ideas and other options.
