About EcuEVP

EcuEVP is a non-profit organization whose participants volunteer in social, educational, and conservation projects in locations throughout Ecuador. Our participants also work as professional interns at leading companies in fields like journalism, accounting, and medicine. We also have a program for foreign students who want to study at an ecuadorian high school. All of our programs provide the opportunity to experience the unique culture of Ecuador through Spanish study and homestays with local families. Both students and professionals from all over the world are able to enrich their professional education by learning to understand and speak Spanish and to appreciate and feel at home in a different culture. We speak English, German and Spanish, so partners and participants should not have any problems communicating with us.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote international understanding through educational and cultural exchange between Ecuador (Latin-American) and the rest of the world, to help people gain experience, acquire knowledge, and develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world.

Objectives

In the ever-widening global marketplace, it becomes more apparent each year that those who have experience with studying, volunteering, or interning abroad have many advantages in terms of personal maturity, languages, practical skills, and perspective on the larger world. EcuEVP provides all of these benefits through structured programs in which participants are challenged, both personally and professionally, to learn skills and handle situations in ways that will serve them well in whatever career they pursue. People of all ages have taken foreign language plus experiential programs through ecuEVP. Simply put, an international internship or volunteer program through EcuEVP is a rewarding and challenging way to experience another culture and to gain practical experience.

PUKA INTI Spanish School in Quito and throughout Ecuador

Even those who have had no prior Spanish exposure will be completing basic Spanish phrases after the first day! Classes are held Monday through Friday from 8:00-12:00 and 14:00-18:00, and students may start any day of the week. Students normally take four hours a day; but it is up to the students to decide how much and when they want to study.

  Students and teachers work one-on-one, which allows each student to work at his/her individual level. We place particular emphasis on flexibility: students pick the areas they wish to emphasize - conversation, comprehension, writing, etc.

We also offer specialized courses for literature, medical and business Spanish and Quichwa.

ABOUT OUR TEACHERS

PUKA INTI'S experienced teaching staff are sensitive to student’s individual needs and abilities. All of our teachers are native speakers with a university degree in spanish and  have a minimum of 10 years experience in teaching Spanish as a second language. The teachers are blessed with an exceptional amount of patience, so even the most nervous student feels comfortable. Our students feel relaxed because our teachers make them feel at ease when using the language.

We use a variety of teaching methods and aids, all of which are dynamic and fun, and mean that you can actually communicate in Spanish rather than just knowing a few standard phrases.

The school offers Homestay with  local families  which is a unique opportunity to really infiltrate ecuadorian culture.

OUR HOST FAMILIES are very friendly , and they are all located within a 10-minute walk from the school! All host families offer a single room with private bath, full board (3 meals per day) airport pick up, and a great opportunity to practice one's Spanish. All our families have had experience with foreign guests and language learners. Apart from that host families allow a great insight into the Ecuadorian way-of-life.

ON DEMAND we can of course organize accommodation in a hotel or in a youth hostel close to our school. There are many opportunities and price categories. We can even organize an apartment for you if that is your wish.

Spanish in the Amazon Jungle!

 WE OFFER Spanish lessons in the Amazon jungle at a lodge where you will enjoy the magic of the rainforest while learning the language. Classes are held from Monday to friday from 8:30  to  12:30.

After lunch our students will take part of the jungle hikes to explore the wonders of the Amazon jungle or enjoy the piranha fishing or learn how our native indigenous people use the blowgun to hunt. All of this combined with great meals at the lodge.

Spanish on the Coast

WE ALSO offer spanish lessons on the coast in Machalilla National Park.

Cultural Program

WE ORGANIZE two or three cultural events per week. In the day we organize visits to museums, galleries, cultural centers etc. In the evenings we go to restaurants, bars, music concerts, the theatre, etc. These trips give you a chance to learn more about Ecuadorian culture, but also give you the chance to get to know other students and teachers better, and of course, to practice your Spanish.

WEEKEND TRIPS: Each week we plan a weekend outing for students. We plan trips to places that our students want to visit, usually the full weekend. Typically, we plan these visits so you have the chance to see rural life in Ecuador. We visit tourist attractions such as Baños (a small town at the foot of the Tungurahua volcano), Otavalo (the most famous indigenous market in Ecuador, surrounded by beautiful countryside), Cotopaxi (one of Ecuador’s most famous volcanos), Papallacta (thermal springs, where you can relax in steaming water whilst enjoying views of the Andes) etc.

We also help you to organized trips like the ones to the Amazon Jungle or Galapagos Islands. We have very good discounts for our students.

SALSA CLASSES: Once a week we organize salsa and merengue classes where you can learn the basics and and gain more confidence to go out to the lively bars and clubs in Quito! if students want to take a professional dance course they can attend to any of the best salsa schools in Quito.

COOKING CLASSES: Once a week one of our teachers prepares a typical Ecuadorian dish with the students. This is a practical way to learn how to make some of the dishes that you may have enjoyed eating here. You will see the kinds of ingredients we use here, and some of the traditional cooking methods. It’s a sociable event which gives you the opportunity to chat with other teachers and students in the school, and above all, to practice using the Spanish that you have learnt in your classes.

PRICING: There is a $60 registration fee for all Spanish courses. Classes are by the hour and pricing varies by the part of the country you study in. For serious Spanish immersion studies we recommend a minimum of two weeks and 4-6 hours per day. Of course, you can decide to study for less time. We can accommodate you even if you only have time for a week of studies!

FOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS: There is a one time $200 set-up fee regardless of the number of weeks that you arrange and a $4 per day administrative fee. This fee is less on extended stays. Homestay costs are noted below and include meals and private rooms . There are extended stay discounts for those staying for more than 30 days.

QUITO: Private Spanish Immersion Classes: $10 USD per hour/Homestays: 15 USD a night private room/3 meals daily.

GALAPAGOS, ISLA SANTA CRUZ: Private Spanish Immersion Classes: $14 USD per hour/Homestays: $20 USD a night private room/3 meals daily.

MINDO: Private Spanish Immersion Classes: $12 USD per hour/estancia $18 USD a night. Includes private room/private bath/ and three meals a day.

AMAZONAS: We have a package including eco-lodge/eco-tourism options in the Amazon Jungle of Ecuador. The cost is $575 for 5 nights lodging (Monday through Friday) including eco tourism activities in the Amazon jungle, all meals, and 4 hours of daily private Spanish classes. During weekends, surprisingly, the cost is less at $85 per night with the same amenities, activities and Spanish classes. 

QUAYAQUIL (BEACH/COASTAL): Our Ecuador partner is currently not serving the coastal Guayaquil area due to recent increases in assaults and robberies. Please inquire for updates and other coastal Spanish immersion school options and surfing.

Volunteering is a meaningful way help others while also gaining a whole new perspective on the world. You can support a cause, share your knowledge, meet new people, and develop new skills. You can work in exciting places like the Amazon jungle or the Galapagos Islands.

EcuEVP´s volunteer program in Ecuador encourages and promotes humanitarian work through exciting hands-on work opportunities, aimed at cultural exchange in the aim of fostering cultural understanding. Our volunteers contribute much-needed skills to local communities as they strive for self-sufficiency. Volunteers work side-by-side with local people, on locally designed and driven projects.

The fields where the volunteers can help are: HealthCare, Environmental & Conservation, Social Work, Education for Children or for Adults, Music, Arts and Culture, Orphanage, Community Services, Humans Rights, Law, Housing, Children, Old Shelter, Medicine, Teaching, and Eco-agriculture.

Ecuevp arranges Volunteer placements all over Ecuador; including the national parks, the Galapagos Islands, Quito and the Amazon Jungle.

We prefer that volunteers commit to at least six weeks of volunteer work and we can arrange volunteer programs for as long as one year. If you are only able to volunteer for a week or two we can arrange that as well. MORE INFO...
